Samuel Latimer
Founder & Principal Engineer · CEng MIStructE
Samuel founded SWAL Engineering in 2018 and has served as the principal engineer and director since its inception. A Chartered Structural Engineer and a member of the Institution of Structural Engineers and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, his career in private practice began in 2011.
He has been the lead engineer on a wide variety of projects across all construction sectors, including residential, commercial, industrial, education, and healthcare. His expertise covers everything from the sensitive refurbishment of historic and listed buildings - and temporary works including façade retention - to the design of large-scale, multi-storey developments with basements.
In addition to structural engineering, Samuel has held lecturing positions at Anglia Ruskin University and overseen Structures and Materials labs at the University of Sheffield.

Bradley Hart
Structural Engineer · MICE
Bradley began his career in civil and structural engineering with Essex Highways, building a strong foundation through bridge inspections, structural surveying, and highway structural design schemes. He later transitioned into the railway sector, expanding his technical expertise across the inspection, assessment, and analysis of bridges, operational buildings, gantries, and historic structures on major infrastructure projects across the UK.
Recognised for his technical competence and professional standards, Bradley gained full membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE) in 2022.
This comprehensive background in structural assessment and design led Bradley to join SWAL Engineering in early 2026. In his current role, he delivers structural designs, leads detailed site investigations, and produces comprehensive structural inspection reports and monitoring regimes. His practical, hands-on approach combines rigorous engineering principles with extensive field experience across diverse real-world structures.
